Course Objective:
- Identification and prioritization of information assets, threats, and vulnerabilities
- Exploration of computer system security and vulnerabilities
- Examinations of the tools, techniques and technologies used to secure IS systems
- Information security strategy and architecture
- Planning and responses for intruders in an information system
- Legal and public relations implications of security and privacy issues
- Incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity plan for information assets after an incident
This course will provide an intermediate level understanding and appreciation of the technical, managerial and process oriented philosophies, views and practices of Information Security, Information Security Assurance, and Information Security risk Management. This course will provide the foundation and understanding of the key issues associated with protecting information assets, determining the levels of protection and response to security incidents, and designing a consistent, reasonable information security system, appropriate intrusion detection and reporting system, and a comprehensive IS Risk management system (including IS risk contingency planning) to adequately support and facilitate overall value proposition of the organization.
